DALLASTOWN AREA HIGH SCHOOL

Principal's Message

Happy August 1st!

We're so excited for the 2023-2024 school year!  Last year was a wonderful learning experience for all of us as we navigated Moving Forward, Together.  The Class of 2023 was inspiring to all of us as they came together as a class, returning some of the fun and excitement to school that had been lost during the pandemic.  Throughout the year, students enjoyed fun events with record turnouts, attended new events, and really enjoyed themselves.

This year, we want to continue the energy we felt, beginning with welcoming the Class of 2027 to DAHS!  As the year progresses, we hope that our purposeful intentions show how fiercely committed we are to every student and teacher in the building.

Bring on the new year!

Student Drivers & Parking

All students who have a valid Driver’s License and plan to drive to school and park a vehicle on campus during the 2023-2024 school year need to register and pay for a DAHS parking permit. Prior to registering for your permit, please review the school board policy (223-AR-1) regarding the use of motor vehicles on campus. It is your responsibility to abide by the expectations set forth within this policy.

You cannot use a permit from a previous year. If you intend to register for a parking permit for the 2023-2024 school year, you must fill out the Google form linked here. You will need to be logged into your DASD Google account in order to access this form.

Pay the $15 parking permit fee through My School Bucks. You can find a link to pay the fee here. Online payment is preferred, but if necessary, cash payment may be submitted to the high school main office beginning Monday, August 21, 2023.

Once you have filled out the Google form and paid the $15 fee, then we will secure a parking permit for you. This year we will distribute the parking permit through your homeroom teacher on the first day of school. If you have filled out the form and paid the fee prior to the first day of school (or have the check/cash payment to drop off on the morning of the first day), then you may drive to school on the first day; for all subsequent days, you must have a valid parking permit displayed in your vehicle in order to exercise the privilege of driving to and parking on campus.

Parking permits are to be displayed from the rear-view mirror and face out so they are easily visible. All students must park in the designated student parking areas where the lines are painted white. Student parking is located in the upper parking lot across from the stadium, and limited spaces on Tennis Court Hill. Driving to school and parking on campus is a privilege. Students who do not follow procedures by failing to obtain a current 2023-2024 student parking permit, failing to visibly display the permit, or by parking in spaces not designated for students, may receive a parking ticket from the school district or lose campus parking privileges.

Picture information will come home with your child(ren) the first week of school.

Fiercely Committed Spirt Week

Dallastown Cat Packs “Down and Dirty” - The Remix!

The Dallastown Cat Packs program supports students across the district with food and other items during times when school is not in session (ex: weekends, long breaks).  As a Non-Profit Organization, Cat Packs relies on food and monetary donations from the community, as well as one large fundraiser each year, in order to provide weekly "Cat Packs" for Dallastown families in need.  In the past, the Down & Dirty event took place in the spring, however, in an effort to involve as many students and staff as possible, Cat Pack's biggest fundraiser, Down & Dirty, has been moved to September!  Such a good thing, we couldn't wait until Spring!

Join family and friends on Saturday, September 23rd for this fun event where teams of five compete in twelve muddy, wet, and silly challenges. All proceeds from this event will benefit Dallastown Cat Packs and allow them to continue their mission of making sure that no child in our District goes without food and other necessary items when school is not in session.  Gather your team and register quickly, as there are a limited number of slots available for teams for this fun and muddy day.  Registration is complete when teams have completed all forms and submitted payment. Get creative!  There will be awards for the best costumes!

Want to be involved in this great community event, without the mud?  Many volunteers are needed to make this event successful.  Please see the links below for adult and student volunteers.  All volunteers may also participate (volunteers will be given priority when selecting their event time).  Please see the FAQ link for more event information.

Dallastown Cat Packs is super excited for "Volume 2" of this event, and looks forward to a day full of fun for our Dallastown Community for a great cause!

9th Grade & New Student Orientation Event

Wednesday, August 16, 2023

6:00 - 7:30 pm

This event is open to all incoming 9th-grade students and any new students to DASD in grades 9-12. Doors to the high school's main entrance will open at 5:45 pm and the event will begin promptly at 6:00 pm.

The event will begin in the high school auditorium with welcoming remarks by high school principal Dr. Wilson.  Guests will then participate in a self-guided "scavenger hunt" of the high school, where they will learn about the programs, opportunities, and some basic procedures of the high school community while also becoming familiar with the high school footprint. Participants will need to have cell phone device with a QR code reader app or digital camera that can activate QR codes.

Those students and families unable to participate in this live event will have an opportunity to engage virtually.

All student participants (live and virtual) will be eligible for a raffle drawing upon completing and submitting a post-event, digital questionnaire.

We look forward to seeing our 9th graders and new students on August 16 and developing a strong relationship as we journey on each student's pathway to success!
