World Language Policy on Use of Online Translators

World
Language students establish their spoken and written voices in their
daily classes and become easily identifiable by their vocabulary and
structure base. Use of structures and vocabulary far beyond the scope of
the curriculum can signal use of online translators. Although World
Language teachers encourage the use of dictionaries (including online
dictionaries) as a research tool, online translators tend to be
unreliable and not educationally beneficial to our students.
Additionally, they constitute a form of plagiarism. If any form of
plagiarism is discovered in an assignment, the student will receive a
zero (0).
