DAHS Blood Drive 2021

One of the main goals of the blood drive each year is to give exposure to our Anatomy & Physiology students.  Often times, donating blood may be one of the few times our students have had exposure to be around blood, needles, gloves, medical questions, medical safe practices and an appreciation of anemia – deficiency of Oxygen transport. We think this experience can be a valuable experience as they move forward with their potential career goals as Health Care Professionals.

Thinking about giving this holiday season?  Think about giving the GIFT OF LIFE.  The Dallastown Blood Drive is Wednesday December 22, 2021 from 8:30am until 2:00pm.  Since South Central Penn Blood Bank is our sponsor all the blood donated will stay and be used by local hospitals.  There is always a shortage of blood but levels drop exceptionally low around the holiday season. PLEASE CONSIDER!

Our school goal this year for the blood drive is 100 units of blood donated. This means we need you to really think about donating.  We understand that donating blood may be a new concept for you, and that the fear of needles and sight of blood can be disturbing; think about donating at the same time with a friend for encouragement.  We think that you will find the experience really not that bad.  Everyone that participates in trying to give blood will receive a T-shirt.  Students that donate will receive great care, and my personal favorite juice and cookies afterwards.

Students who would like to participate in the blood drive:

Students must be at least 16 years old to donate. Each student must have a signed parent permission form

Students must weigh at least 120 pounds.

Students participating in a Winter Sport may NOT donate this season.

Please see Mr. Gould, room 232, with permission forms to sign up or questions concerning donating.
