What is DAHSMBA?
DAHSMBA is comprised of many volunteer committees in which members may participate. The Fundraising Committee schedules and organizes fundraisers in which each student may participate in order to raise funds that can be used by the individual student in order to pay for educational trips which are arranged by the music department directors. The fundraising chair or co-chair keeps track of each student account.
The Concession Stand Committee operates the concession stand on the visitor's side of the football field during home varsity football games. All proceeds go to DAHSMBA at large.
The Uniform Committee fits each student with a uniform. Uniforms include marching band uniforms and formal concert attire. A uniform contract must by signed by each student and their parent/guardian. The Uniform Committee also collects and accounts for uniforms at the end of every school year.
The Chaperone Committee supports the Marching Band Directors in providing supervision during after school marching band events. Chaperones may be asked to assist in the placement or moving of some of the marching band equipment or instruments. The music directors may sometimes ask members of the chaperone committee to assist during other events.
Other volunteer opportunities are available through out the school year. DAHSMBA operates a small concession stand during the annual school musical. Volunteers are also needed when Dallastown hosts the District 7 Band and Orchestra auditions.
Funds raised by DAHSMBA are used to support the musical performance groups in many ways. Grants may be honored for educational trips to students who are deemed to be appropriate recipients. Graduation gifts are given to all graduating seniors in the music department. Refreshments are provided by DAHSMBA during the combined holiday concert. Bottled water and sometimes cookies are provided to the marching band during parades. Lunch is sometimes provided to the marching band during band camp. Flowers are purchased for senior students on senior night. DAHSMBA also periodically allots funds to each music director to support their educational programs as deemed appropriate. The truck that transports instruments during the music department educational trips is many times rented by DAHSMBA.
